Undisturbed habitat for eagles, wolves and the greater horseshoe bat: large parts of the 233 square kilometer area are not intended for military use and remain untouched. Grassland, heathland, mixed forests, Jura rocks, marshes and peatlands, moorland and bodies of water are ecosystems that are home to over 3,000 different animal and plant species, including around 800 red-listed species.
